POLISH VISA ON THE BASIS OF PARTICIPATION IN A COURSE AT A POLISH LANGUAGE INSTITUTE

Do you want to come to Warsaw to start learning Polish at the Polish Linguistic Institute? Do you need a visa?

Below you will find the requirements for the documents you need to submit to obtain such a visa

List of documents required to apply for a visa for the purpose of attending language courses (purpose of visa issuance: 11 — when the visa is issued for the purpose of study or other types of training)

  • Filled in the system e-konsulat, printed and signed visa application form;

  • A 3.5 x 4.5 cm colour photograph. The photograph must be:

  • clear, on a white background and printed on high quality paper,

  • no older than 6 months,

  • taken straight on, with eyes and face clearly shown on both sides from the top of the head to the top of the shoulders, so that the face occupies 70–80 percent of the photograph. Headgear should be removed for the photograph.

  • Passport issued within the last 10 years, valid for at least 3 months from the date of planned return, with a minimum of 2 blank pages for visas.

  • A copy of the passport page with personal data and a photograph.

  • A person applying for a national visa must personally submit a document confirming possession of travel medical insurance, as referred to in Article 25(1)(2)(a), or a document confirming possession of health insurance within the meaning of the Act of 27 August 2004 on healthcare services financed from public funds. Travel medical insurance with a coverage amount of no less than EUR 30,000 must be valid for the entire planned period of the foreigner’s stay in the territory of the Republic of Poland. It must cover all expenses that may arise during the stay in connection with the need for a return journey for medical reasons, the need for urgent medical assistance, emergency hospital treatment, or death. The insurer must undertake to cover the costs of the healthcare services provided to the insured directly to the entity providing such services, based on an invoice issued by that entity.

  • Copy of an identity document proving legal residence in the consular district of the consular post where you are applying for a visa (residence permit as defined by local law, in the case of non-citizens)

  • A document proving sufficient financial means to cover living expenses and return travel costs to the country of origin or residence, or transit costs to a third country that will grant entry authorisation, as well as tuition fees. Proof of financial capacity on a form determined by the educational institution.

The foreigner must provide financial means to cover all three components for the entire period of validity of the visa. The cost of accommodation in Poland consists of:

  • 1. A fixed and lump sum to enable return travel to the country from which the foreigner arrived, in the amount of:

    • PLN 200

      if he came from a country bordering the Republic of Poland,
    • PLN 500

      if he comes from a Member State of the European Union which does not border the Republic of Poland, or from a Member State of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) which is a party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, or from the Swiss Confederation,
    • PLN 2500

      if he came from another country.
  • 2. Funds to cover living expenses during your studies (e.g. certificate from a dormitory, rental agreement, etc.).

  • 3. 1010 PLN (or 823 PLN per person if the student will be in Poland with family) per month as an amount that ensures that the student will not be eligible for social assistance in Poland.

The documents that can prove the availability of sufficient financial resources are as follows:

  • a credit card limit statement issued by the bank that issued the credit card;

  • A certificate confirming that the foreigner, or the person who supports the foreigner,

    has funds in a bank or a credit and savings cooperative located in the territory of the Republic of Poland or another Member State of the European Union, a Member State of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) — a party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, or the Swiss Confederation.

  • a document confirming the appointment of a national or foreign scholarship amout;

  • certificate from the place of work about the income of the foreigner or the person on whose dependence the foreigner is.

  • A certificate from the organisation running the course to enrol or continue on the course.

In addition, the following must be provided when applying for a visa for minors:

  • Written, notarised parental consent for the visa application. If there is only one guardian, this must be confirmed by a birth certificate, a court decision granting sole parental authority or a death certificate of the other parent;

  • Birth certificate — original and a copy. If the child is registered in the passport of a parent or guardian — submit a separate visa application form. The visa will be pasted in the passport of one of the parents or guardian.

Remember:

  1. The visa application must be submitted to the diplomatic mission whose consular district covers the place of permanent residence.

  2. Usually the above documents are sufficient to make a decision, but the consul may request additional documentation.

  3. The consul has the right to invite the applicant to an interview at the institution, but is not obliged to do so.

  4. Type D visas allow you to stay in other Schengen countries for 90 days in each 180-day period. This means that you can legally stay in the Schengen area only if your stay in the last 180 days has not exceeded 90 days.

  5. A Type D visa can be issued with a maximum validity of up to one year.

  7. In case of refusal to issue a visa — we will help you prepare an application for reconsideration.

  8. Remember that a visa does not guarantee entry into Poland — the final decision is always made by the Border Guard Service. The application can be submitted no earlier than 6 months before the planned trip, but no later than 10 days before the planned trip.

  9. The decision on visa issuance is taken within 15 working days from the date of payment. In case of necessity of detailed verification of documents, the examination of the application may be extended up to 30 days. In urgent and justified cases, the decision may be taken within three working days.
